Pokémon Popularity: Appeal Tied to Self Insert Nature

    A hobby that I have always held interest in is the huge franchise of Pokémon. While the various spectrums of the franchise are intended for children, I hold the belief that anyone of any age can enjoy Pokémon for various reasons. I first was introduced into the Pokémon franchise by watching the animated show of the same name when I was ten years old at my grandmother’s house. I did not begin by watching the first episode either, I was thrust into the story of this fictional world before anything was explained to me and I was enchanted. I was ten just like the protagonist, Ash; I could go on adventures like him! That Christmas my sister and I each received a GameBoy Color with a copy of Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Red. It nears almost a decade from that Christmas and I am still an avid fan of Pokémon. While when I first got into Pokémon when it was a huge fad, especially with the Trading Card Game, I never lost interest when its popularity faded in the United States. I am a member of various online communities and I have owned and played a game from every generation of the main series.
And the rest of it is under a cut!Collapse )

An idea just ran into my head. It actually came into my head in a very strange way.

I've been making designs to paint on stuff and I thought a cool (meaning very uncool) nerdy thing to do would be put your friendcode on that item. (Like a notebook and stuff.)
And I thought "but really- besides adding to them to your game to see if they ever randomly got on, what would be the point?"

Then lightbulb!

It really wouldn't be so hard to do.
A Friend Code Database.

Basically, I or someone would make a spiffy website where people could submit their friend code with what ever they want know about themselves.

Like if you looked up my friendcode you would get
Nina, links to various different sites I'm on. Maybe a breif intro.
So if you trade (legitly) on the gts and want to see who's pokemon you got, it might be on there. Or if you traded with a breeder a long time ago and you'd like to see if they've done more things, you can put their friend code in and see if they've got a link to their sites.

And the MOST IMPORTANT PART, for those that have a heart.
My friend came in possession of a set of games that were lost. There's no absolute way to figure out who lost them on the side of a freeway, and broadcasting on your little spaces on the internet don't do much.

But if that person registered themselves on the Friend Code Database, you could find them! If you're a good hearted person, you can organize a way to give them their game back.

So I am a silly little girl and I wanted to make pokemon horoscope signs! I tried to reference the pokemon and/or the original signs.
I don't know April and December's and I really don't feel like looking them up.

So I'll explain why I chose what I did, but I hope they explain themselves. ;;
